Questions

Is this a government site?

No. PhotoFitNow is an independent service. Only the U.S. Department of State decides whether a photo is accepted.

Why use this if the official online renewal checks photos?

It does, and it’s free. We help before you get there. You learn which rules apply to your channel, get exact retake steps, and can check a printed-photo layout for the paper form. If the official check is all you need, use it.

Do you upload my photo?

The free check runs in your browser without uploading. If you choose to buy, you separately consent to upload the prepared JPEG. Close the page, or press “Remove photo”, and it’s gone.

Will you fix my photo?

We don’t edit faces, backgrounds or colors. Where allowed, we only frame and size it. If something else is wrong, we tell you how to retake it.

Can I crop my photo here?

Only where the route’s rules support it. Today that’s the U.S. paper passport (the State Department’s own Photo Tool crops for that channel) and the two Hong Kong passport routes (the Immigration Department publishes the exact photo size and head size). U.S. online renewal, UK, Canada, Ireland, Singapore and others want the original, a photographer’s file or an unaltered photo, so we don’t crop for them. See the Coverage page for each route.

Do you support my country?

Every country is listed, but we’ve only researched the U.S., UK and Canada so far. For other countries we say “not researched yet” rather than guess.

My iPhone photo is HEIC. What do I do?

The official site accepts HEIC, but our checker can’t read it yet. Upload it there directly. Or set iPhone Camera → Formats → Most Compatible and take a new photo.

Does a pass here mean the photo will be accepted?

No. We only report what we measured. The government makes the final call.
